U.S. Sen. John Shimkus (R-Ill.) was in town Tuesday evening to meet with members of the Chamber of Commerce at GenKota Winery.
While addressing local issues, Shimkus praised Rend Lake College with the recent groundbreaking of the Rend Lake College Coal Mining Training Center as a way to utilize local resources.
