MT. VERNON —
A Granite City boy was killed after his sister accidentally shot him Sunday afternoon.
Jefferson County Sheriff Roger Mulch said Christian G. Clark, 10, and his sister, Halee R. Clark, 7, were inside the motor home of their grandfather, Jason G. Clark Sr., in rural northeast Jefferson County.
Halee Clark picked up a long gun and accidentally discharged a round, which struck Christian Clark in the face, killing him, Mulch said.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a 911 call at 3:30 p.m. Saturday reporting the shooting, and Kell Fire Department, Litton Ambulance Service and JCSO deputies responded to the scene.
Deputies discovered Christian Clark’s body inside the mobile home, located in a wooded area adjacent and belonging to the Modert Clark family at 13339 Baseline Road in Dix. Illinois State Police, Department of Children and Family Services and the Jefferson County Coroner, Eddie Joe Marks, were dispatched to the scene as well.
Mulch said an investigation into the incident continues, but nothing points to foul play.
