Fire
- Emergency crews responded to a brush fire in the median of Interstate 57 just after midnight Friday near the Big Muddy Correctional Center in Ina. A spokesman for the Jefferson County Fire Protection District said the fire was caused by a blown tire on the trailer of a semi truck. The blown tire, the spokesman said, caused enough of a spark to ignite the fire. The fire, which reached one side of the interstate, was brought under control nine minutes after fire fighters arrived. No injuries were reported.
