Arrests

Amber D. Ellis, 25, of the 200 block of Opdyke Avenue, was arrested Thursday at 10 p.m. on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Bond was set at $25,000.

Tony W. Gibson, 31, of Nashville, was arrested Thursday at 10 p.m. on a charge of theft of leased property. Bond was set at $4,000.

Fires

Friday at 9:53 a.m., police and Jefferson County Fire responded to a report of a grass fire one half mile north of Ina on I-57 South. The ditch on the west side of the highway was on fire, according to police reports.

Accidents

Police responded to a report of a one-car accident Sunday at 6:31 p.m. on Illinois Highway 15, 100 feet west of the intersection with Shepherd Lane. Judy K. Wagner, 63, of the 14500 block of North McRaven Lane, was driving east bound on Illinois Highway 15 when she fell asleep at the wheel and the car drifted off the road to the north, according to police reports. The car ramped over an embankment on Shepherd Lane and made impact on the east side of Shepherd Lane, according to police reports. Wagner’s vehicle was carrying three passengers; Gloria N. Abenes, 35; Isabella R. Abenes, 2; and Jordan D. Abenes, 5; all of Glendale, N.Y. Wagner was transported to St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital. No other injuries were reported.



Mt. Vernon Police Department

Arrests

Latwoine A. Guyton, 31, of the 600 block of Lamar Street, was arrested Friday at 3:45 a.m. on a charge of obstructing an officer. Guyton was released.

Rachel B. Lyday, 40, of the 800 block of White Street, was arrested Thursday at 11:43 p.m. on a charge of retail theft and an in-state warrant. Bond was set at $6,000 and Lyday was released.

Daleena M. Miller, 18, of Bluford, was arrested Thursday at 7:40 p.m. on a charge of driving with a suspended/revoked license. Bond was set at $1,000 and Miller was released.

Thefts

Police responded to a report of a theft Friday at 12:58 p.m. in the 1400 block of White Street.

Incidents

Thursday at 6:04 p.m. on the 4200 block of Rose Lane, police responded to a report of a burglary attempt.

Police responded to a report of a vicious dog in the 700 block of Perkins Avenue at 7:46 p.m. Thursday. The animal warden was called to the scene, according to police reports.

Police responded to a report of shoplifting Thursday at 9:49 p.m. at KMart. Two shoplifters were attempting to flee the store, according to police reports.

Police responded to a report of criminal mischief Friday at 12:59 a.m. in the 2200 block of Casey Avenue. Someone put flour in someone’s gas tank, according to police reports.

Police responded to a report of a burglary Friday at 8:42 a.m. in the 700 block of Perkins Avenue. A residence was burgled overnight, according to police reports.

Arrests

Eric T. Shafer, of the 15500 block of East Lynchberg Road, was arrested Thursday at 12:15 p.m. on a charge of theft.
