Two women were taken to St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital with serious injuries after an accident at 11:12 a.m. Thursday morning on Old Fairfield Road. According to accident reports, Sonya Davis, 46, of the 17600 block of Fairfield Road was traveling west when she got off on the side of the road, over corrected, went of the pavement on the south side of the roadway, over corrected again, then crashed into an embankment on the north side of the roadway, flipping the 2005 Chevy pickup she was driving in an easterly direction. The passenger in the vehicle, Davis’ mother, Laura Veetch, was trapped in the truck and had to be extricated by rescue workers before being transported to the hospital. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Mt. Vernon Police Department, Jefferson Fire Protection District and Litton Ambulance responded to the accident.
