America’s got talent and Cedarhurst Center for the Arts does too. Organizers for the second annual Cedarhurst’s Got Talent are holding auditions for the show.
The talent show is a fundraiser for Cedarhurst and the winner will receive a $500 prize. Those who wish to audition are asked to fill out the application form and return it to Cedarhurst so they can audition Oct. 7. Auditions will begin at 2 p.m. and talent acts will be seen in the order their audition forms were received.
“It’s not age specific and it’s not talent specific,” Sarah Sledge, director of communications, said. “We are open to anything. It can be individuals or it can be groups.”
Sledge said there were about 10 acts chosen to be finalists for the Cedarhurst’s Got Talent show. There were a variety of acts, including vocal, comedy acts and instrumental, among other talents. Last year’s winner was a 9-year-old girl who sang opera, Sledge said.
Applications are available on the Cedarhurst website, www.cedarhurst.org. Sledge said there are also guidelines for those who wish to apply for the auditions. There is also a $5 application fee to enter into the auditions.
Cedarhurst has a piano and sound system equipment available, Sledge said, so people would not have to bring too much of their own equipment.
The rules state groups must designate one person to speak for the group and anyone under 21 will have to sign a consent form which says they will not consume any alcohol. Also, anyone who has received $500 or more for any previous performance may not enter the competition.
