ROE math and science teacher workshop
MT. VERNON — Math and science teachers from Jefferson and Hamilton counties wrap up the last day of a two-week workshop at the Regional Office of Education on Broadway. According to Frackson Mumba, an assistant professor at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, standing, the focus of the workshop project, which is sponsored by the Illinois State Board of Education, is to increase content knowledge among kindergarten through 12th grade math and science teachers. Mumba, the project director, explained the workshop also focused on how to help teachers teach the subjects better through computer simulations and animations. About 25 teachers from both counties participated in the workshop, which began July 19.
