MT. VERNON —
Roadside safety checks will be conducted by the Mt. Vernon Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office this weekend at various locations throughout the county.
According to information from MVPD Chief Chris Mendenall, the checks will focus on driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol, other alcohol related offenses and safety violations.
“We ask people not to drive under the influence and use designated drivers when possible,” Mendenall stated. “The purpose is to keep our roads safe for all and we hope everyone enjoys the holiday season safely.”
The roadside safety checks are funded through a grant received by the Mission Possible Coalition in Jefferson County.
