MT. VERNON —
A 15-year-old died as a result of a shooting that happened Sunday night on Conger.
According to police reports, a 911 call was received at 10:07 p.m. from the 1800 block of Conger Avenue that five or six gunshots were heard. When police arrived, a 15-year-old gunshot victim was discovered lying in the roadway, and emergency personnel and Litton Ambulance were asked to expedite response. He was taken to St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds, where he was pronounced dead.
“He had a faint pulse when the officer arrived,” Mt. Vernon Police Chief Chris Mendenall said. “He later died of his injuries.”
The victim has been identified as Deon Feggins of South 23rd Street.
The shooting is still under investigation, and no one has been arrested in connection with the incident. Mendenall said anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or knows about the incident are urged to contact the Mt. Vernon Police Department at 242-0215 and speak with anyone in the investigations division.

Miller Lake Lane fire
A mobile home in the 19700 block of Miller Lake Lane was destroyed by fire on Sunday afternoon. According to firefighters at the scene, the fire started in an out building and spread to the mobile home, which was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on scene. The fire was reported shortly before 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
