84-year-old arrested following shooting incident

BELLE RIVE — Sheriff’s deputies arrested an 84-year old man in connection to a June 9 shooting.

Monroe R. Whaley, 84, was taken into custody at 3:21 p.m. Tuesday by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies on charges of aggravated battery with a firearm.

On June 9 at approximately 1:25 p.m., the JCSO received a report of a person injured from a possible domestic situation on East Ina Road in Belle Rive. When deputies responded, they found Brian Boots, 53, of the 20600 block of East Ina Road with injuries consistent with those caused by a firearm.

No other information was immediately available. The incident is under investigation by the JSCO.
