MT. VERNON — —
Terri Karch will be the featured speaker at the February Healthy Woman Event.
The topic for the Feb. 25 event will be "How Depression Can Break Your Heart." Healthy Woman, a resource of Crossroads Community Hospital, will be held at the hospital conference center with light refreshments and partner booths at 5:15 p.m. and the presentation at 6 p.m.
Karch has traveled more than 10,000 miles sharing her story about her struggle with depression and the triumphant successes she has enjoyed in her life despite depression.
According to information from Crossroads Community Hospital, Karch's presentation is designed to help attendees realize that if they have depression, they are not alone and the diagnosis is not a hopeless one.
As February is also known as heart month, Karch will discuss the relationship between depression and heart disease.
According to information from Neuroscience & Biobehavior Reviews magazine, depression has been associated with several aspects of coronary artery disease, including irregular heartbeat, heart attack, heart failure and sudden death.
Healthy Woman is a program designed to empower women with the confidence to make informed health care decisions for themselves and their family.
To register for the February Healthy Woman Event, contact Crossroads Community Hospital at 214-8764 or go to www.crossroadscommunityhospital.com.
