MT. VERNON — Two vehicles were in an accident Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Illinois Highway 148 and Wells Bypass. One passenger was in a car and two passengers were in a truck that struck each other near the intersection, said Jefferson Fire Protection District Lt. Ernie Collins. JFPD rescue personnel, Mt. Vernon Police Department, Illinois State Police and Litton Ambulance Service responded to the scene. No other information was available at press time.
