MT. VERNON — —
Wednesday was the first day on the new job for Brad Ruble, who has been hired as the city’s engineer.
“I like being able to solve problems and see things go from being on paper to out in the field,” Ruble said.
Ruble comes from working the last 11 years for the Missouri Department of Transportation on highway design.
“Before that, I worked three years as a utility engineer, relocating utilities for roadway projects, mostly in the St. Louis Metro area,” Ruble said. “I did some of the preliminary design work on the Interstate 64/40 project. That was a very large project.”
Ruble said he is also looking forward to learning more about the differences working in Illinois versus working with Missouri.
“There is a lot of work to keep us busy,” Ruble said.
Ruble is commuting while searching for a home in Mt. Vernon for his wife, Paige, and his stepson, Landon.
“We can’t wait to get over here,” Ruble said.
Ruble replaces Scot Prindiville, whose last day on the job was Nov. 30. Prindiville moved on to become the city engineer for Westmont. Prindiville started serving as engineer for the city on Feb. 28, 2011, moving to Mt. Vernon from Belvidere.
