MT. VERNON — An Iowa man was arrested on attempted murder charges early Saturday morning following an incident at a local motel.
Mt. Vernon City Police report the incident occurred about 3:45 a.m. Saturday at a motel in the 200 block of South 44th Street.
Police and ambulance personnel responded to the report of a woman being “cut” and going into shock, logs state.
The woman was allegedly cut with bottles containing an alcoholic beverage.
Eddie L. Williams, 45, of Davenport, Iowa, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery.
Williams was being held in the Jefferson County Justice Center under $250,000 bail late Monday afternoon.
Chief of Police Chris Mendenall said Williams and the victim. reportedly a girlfriend of Williams, previously lived in the Mt. Vernon area.
The victim was taken to Crossroads Community Hospital for treatment of her injuries, police logs state.
