MT. VERNON — The Lincoln Foundation for Performance Excellence announced that St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital was a recipient of the 2008 Lincoln Silver Award for commitment to excellence for its efforts to adopt and apply continuous improvement principles.
The hospital and two other recipients will be honored at a ceremony to be held Jan. 16 in Naperville.
The Lincoln Foundation for Performance Excellence is a non-profit organization backed by private and public funding that assists Illinois organizations to continuously improve performance by encouraging, developing and highlighting excellence in all five sectors of the economy: Industry, service, health care, education and government. Each year a team of Lincoln examiners review and assess each award application received for leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus, information and analysis, human resource focus, process management and results and a panel of judges determine those who have earned recognition.
St. Mary’s Good Samaritan was created through a joint operating agreement made in 1996 between SSM Health Care of St. Louis and Felician Services, Inc. of Chicago. SMGS is a non-profit corporation which works to create a comprehensive regional health care enterprise covering a nine county area in Southern Illinois.
