Staff Report
MT. VERNON — A motor vehicle accident at Times Square Mall on Friday resulted in the destruction of postal service pickup boxes.
“We’re really starting to get a lot of calls about it now,” Mt. Vernon U.S. Postal Service Postmaster Larry Delahunt said. “A lot of people use those boxes.”
Delahunt said while many residents use the post office drop boxes at Times Square Mall, it will take two days to a week to get the boxes replaced.
“We’ve started the work this morning to get the boxes replaced,” Delahunt said, adding the accident report has been picked up from police and paperwork to get the new boxes has been started.
Delahunt said other boxes still available in the area include one at Kroger, K-Mart, Wal-Mart and in front of Hughey Funeral Home.
