The office suite at the Kozaria Terminal at the Outland Airport has a new tenant, effective March 1.
The suite has been vacant since the American Red Cross moved out and consolidated its offices to the St. Louis area in 2011. The office suite had been renovated for the Red Cross, and when the organization attempted to pay a lump sum equal to half its lease after the move out, the airport board rejected the offer. The ARC has been paying its former lease agreement amount of $810 to the airport, with the lease being up in August.
The 1,344-square-foot office suite will be leased to Jerry VanHoutin of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International and for his office products business at a monthly rate of $850. The Airport Board will notify the ARC it will no longer have to continue paying its lease.
According to VanHoutin, the Fellowship has a prison ministry with local teams, a monthly meeting for Jefferson and Marion County members that will be held in the new location as well as the possibility of regional meetings in addition to walk-in customers for the office products business.
"I have been looking at locating to the airport for quite some time," VanHoutin said. Airport Manager Chris Collins said at one time the two had discussed VanHoutin locating in a different office in the terminal, however, VanHoutin is now able to rent the larger suite of office space.
Collins told members of the Airport Board on Tuesday night any aviation-related business that would want to lease the suite would have first right under terms of the lease agreement, and in that event, VanHoutin would be relocated to another office space at the facility.
