MT. VERNON — The parade lineup for the Southern Illinois Harvest Festival on Saturday has been finalized, with more than 75 entries.
The theme for the 2nd Annual Southern Illinois Harvest Festival Parade is “Remembering 9/11.” Special awards to be given for parade entries are the Mayor’s Choice, County Board Choice, Citizen’s Choice, Best of Parade, Most Patriotic Theme and Top Float. First place trophies will be given to the Best of Parade, Most Patriotic Theme and Top Float winners. Horsemen and hitch entries are judged by a different set of judges and trophies for horse entries will be handed out as they pass the reviewing stand.
In addition, all commercial vehicles in the parade must be decorated or pulling a decorated float to be a parade entry, and a maximum of two vehicles will be allowed per company, according to parade entry information.
Those who have entries in the parade are asked to be in their lineup areas no later than noon on Saturday, and there will be volunteers available to help entrants get in place. The parade will get underway at 2 p.m.

Golden, an attorney by profession, is a talented pianist who frequently performs with the Elgin Community College Jazz Ensemble, inormation states. Golden has enjoyed playing piano in variety shows, summer theatre, and clubs such as the Playboy Clubs in Chicago and Lake Geneva. -
District 80 receives recognition
City Schools District 80 received a 3.8 out of a possible 4 points on its 2012 Financial Profile Designation from the Illinois State Board of Education.
This is the second year in a row the district has received the “financial recognition” category from the state board; the district received the same score as 2011. -
