UMCH hosting Festival of Trees bazaar

MT. VERNON — The United Methodist Children’s Home will be hosting a new event — the Festival of Trees holiday bazaar.

The event will be held during the same weekend as the annual Live Nativity. The bazaar will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 12 at the main campus of UMCH on Richview Road.

The Festival of Trees will feature Christmas trees that have been decorated and donated by local and surrounding school classrooms. The trees will be displayed in the Chapel Complex, and raffle tickets will be available for a chance to win each of the trees. In addition, there will be vendors in the gym offering holiday gifts for purchase.

“UMCH is very excited about adding the Festival of Trees holiday bazaar,” Kay Zibby, vice president of development stated. “We see this as an opportunity to collaborate with the community by offering school children a chance to showcase their decorated trees; vendors the opportunity to sell their products/merchandise; and attendees a chance to do some holiday shopping. We want this to be a very festive weekend that the entire family can enjoy.”

The UMCH is continuing to look for vendors who are interested in selling crafts or products. Anyone who would like additional information on being a vendor for the Festival of Trees should contact UMCH Development Coordinator Marcus Holland at 242-1070, ext. 234.

The festival is being held in conjunction with the 5th Annual Live Nativity, will is slated for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 11. The community is invited to both free events, and donations are appreciated.
