MT. VERNON — Employees from Lowe’s unload three floor fans and lumber the business donated to the Granada Center for the Performing Arts Thursday afternoon while Granada Board member David Lister looks on. The donated material is part of the Lowe’s Heroes Program, which will donated approximately $2,500 worth of equipment and 100 hours of labor from 25 employees for continuing renovations to the historical theater. Renovations include sound-proofing the walls of the auditorium, re-wiring, plumbing and recreating a ticket booth under the marquee. Future projects planned are installation of air conditioning, a sound system for the auditorium, stage lighting and tiering the auditorium floor. Donations toward preserving the theater are still being accepted and may be mailed to P.O. Box 821, Mt. Vernon, IL.
