MT. VERNON — — Polling places around Jefferson County saw plenty of action with voters lining up early and often. Doris Wallace, a volunteer at the Mt. Vernon 1 polling place at the Jefferson County Highway Department, said voting was “brisk.” At the polling place at Epworth United Methodist Church, volunteer Gaila Morris said more than 400 people had voted by 12:20 p.m.
