Lt. John Norris Sims and Kimberly Christine Widinski were united in marriage on Sept. 14, 2009, in Jacksonville, N.C.
John is the son of John B. and Laurel Sims of Waltonville. His maternal grandparents are the late Dwight and June Mannen of Waltonville. His paternal grandparents are Carl and Jean Sims of Mulkeytown. John is a 1998 graduate of Waltonville High School and a 2007 graduate of the University of Illinois. He has served in the U.S. Marine Corps since 1998 and is currently stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C. John is presently deployed to Afghanistan.
Kim is the daughter of William and Christine Widinski of Streamwood. Her maternal grandparents are Paul Greene and the late RoseMarie Greene of Arlington Heights. Her paternal grandparents are Mary Frances Taylor and the late Glenn Taylor of Longmont, Colo. Kim is a 2001 graduate of Streamwood High School and a 2005 graduate of the University of Illinois. She is employed as a teacher at Southwest Elementary School in Jacksonville, N.C.
The couple currently resides in Jacksonville, N.C.
