HARRISBURG —
James W. Sloan, 74, of Harrisburg and formerly of McLeansboro, died at 6:26 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
He was born on July 9, 1936, in Hamilton County, the son of Ralph and Janie (Rogers) Sloan.
Mr. Sloan is survived by his brothers, John Sloan and wife Linda of Missouri, Roger Sloan and wife Ladora of Michigan and Jerry Sloan and wife Tammy of Salt Lake City, Utah; his sisters, Geneva Sloan of McLeansboro, Hattie Sloan of McLeansboro and Shirley Irvin of Atlanta; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dwight and wife Bernadine Sloan, Charles R “Buck” Sloan; a sister, June Zick and husband Leo; brothers-in-law, George N. Nipper and Jerry Irvin; a sister-in-law, Bobbye Sloan; and a nephew, George Ralph Nipper.
Private funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Gholson Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Interment will be at Braden Valley Cemetery near Dale.
There will be no public visitation.
For those who wish, memorials may be given to the donor’s choice and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home.
Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of arrangements.
