Susan I. Meyers died on Oct. 24, 2012, in Bowling Green, Ky. from pancreatic cancer. Susan was born on May 29, 1945, and was the only child of Roy and Virginia Robbins of Lovington and they preceded her in death.
She was raised on a farm near Mattoon. After graduating from Neoga High School, she got her degree in nursing. In 1965, she married her high school sweetheart Kenneth Meyers. Susan and her family moved to Mt. Vernon where she has resided since 1975. Recently, she and Ken purchased a home in Bowling Green, Ky., to be near their daughter. Susan was a dedicated mother and wife who enjoyed gardening, decorating and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, the Mt. Vernon Elks (B.P.O.E.) Lodge 819 and Cedarhurst Center for the Arts.
She is survived by her husband, Judge ; daughter, Angela Kniery (Dr. Paul); son, Greg Meyers (Amanda); and five grandchildren, Sam, Joe, Bridget, Kniery and Alex.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home, 1314 Main Street, Mt. Vernon.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 115 N 14th St, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
A private entombment service will be held at Keller Cemetery in Lovington at a later date.
In honor of Susan, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004; Hospice of South Central Kentucky, 5872 Scottsville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42104; or to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Building fund and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
