MT. VERNON —
Elan V. Hogue, 68, of Mt. Vernon, died 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1944, in Hayti, Mo., the daughter of Obadar and Loretta (Brewer) Darnell.
She is survived by five daughters, Kathey Robertson and husband Jeff of Mt. Vernon, Vickie Seiger and husband Johnny of Brookport, and Elan was birth mother to Jackie East and husband Tom of Salem, Sue Eubanks and husband Ron of Benton and Sharon McConnell and husband Russ of Springfield; two sisters, Lorjane Holmes of Paducah, Ky., and Wanda Ann Larrison and husband Kenny of Brookport; a brother, Jimmy Lee Darnell of Wickliffe, Ky.; her special friend and pet, Princess; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Obdar Darnell Jr.
Elan was a cook on a river barge, was a member of the Baptist faith and the Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge 755 LOOM.
Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating.
There will be no visitation.
