MT. VERNON — —
Mr. L.B. Kelly passed away at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, at the age of 55.
He was born Oct. 12, 1956, in Marks, Miss., the son of L.C. and Pauline (Roberson) Kelly.
He was a member of Liberty Heights Church of Christ in Batesville, Miss., a veteran of the Army during the Vietnam War. He was formerly a convenience store owner and professional truck driver.
He is survived by son, Bryant Kelly of Davenport, Iowa; daughters, Lilita Kelly of Davenport, Iowa, and Leah Dycus of Evansville, Ind.; a number of grandchildren; his father and stepmother, L.C. (Leatha Mae) Kelly of Marks; his mother, Pauline Watson of Mt. Vernon; brothers, Larry (Patricia) Ford of Memphis, Alfred Ford and Glenn Ford of Mt. Vernon; sisters, Olean Roberson of Evansville, Ind., Louise Saine of Mt. Vernon, Julie (William) Kirby of Alexandria, Va. and Gloria Dudley of Virginia Beach, Va.; stepsons, Charles Jones, Eddie Williams and Bruce Jones; stepdaughters, MaKisha Miller and Monica Owens; six stepsisters; five stepbrothers; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one stepdaughter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Vernon Church of Christ with Minister Joshua Hartwiggen officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with full military rites by American Legion Post 141.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Jackson Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
