Gloria Jean Smith Willmert, 63, of Centralia and formerly of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 2:10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Friendship House in Centralia.
She was born Sunday, Oct. 24, 1948, in Mt. Vernon, to Franklin John and Betty Irene (Poston) Smith.
Gloria lived at Joshua Manor in Hoyleton from 1998 to 2012. She attended church at Howard Community Chapel in Mt. Vernon and she loved to go fishing with her family. She will be deeply missed by her family.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Wayne Willmert and Jerry Dwayne Willmert; two daugters, Becky Sue Willmert and Angela Lee Willmert; three brothers, Donald Lee Smith, Robert Wayne Smith and Richard Allen Smith; eight sisters, Evelyn Sue Smith-Mayberry and husband Johnnie Mayberry, Joyce Ann Smith-Jackson, Linda Louise Smith-Dawson, Barbara Jean Smith Williams, Nancy Lee Smith-Burkett, Corea May Smith-Mitchell, Margie Ann Smith and Karen Sue Smith-Aldridge; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents and infant sister, Mary Ellen Smith, preceded her in death.
In honor of Gloria’s wishes, no public services will be held.
Interment will follow at Sursa Cemetery in Jefferson County.
For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Friendship House of Centralia and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
