Anna Vaneta Corbin, 94, of Villa Grove, formerly of Mt. Vernon, went home to be with her Lord and her loved ones 11:50 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the First Christian Church, Villa Grove, with the Rev. Darrell Hinkle officiating. Burial was at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. Joines Funeral Home, Villa Grove, handled arrangements.
Mrs. Corbin was born June 15, 1918, in Mt. Vernon, the eighth and youngest child of Arley and Agnes (Schiebly) Rector. She married Roy E. Pickett in 1934; he died in 1969. She then married George A. Corbin in 1972; he died in 1994.
Surviving are two grandchildren, Leanna (Larry) Harton of Paw Paw, Mich., and Larry Pickett of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; four great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a nephew, Donnie (Dixie) Rector of Opdyke; a niece, Sharon (Don) Leffler of Mt. Vernon; a nephew, Bob (Pam) Rector of Athens; a nephew, Harold Lee Rector of Keenes; a niece, Jean Wilson of Mt Vernon; and a niece, Faye Suess of Greenville.
Mrs. Corbin was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; two sisters; one son, Roy Lee Pickett in 2003; two husbands; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Corbin was a homemaker. She took in her two grandchildren as babies and raised them to know and love the Lord. She loved her home; she was an excellent cook; she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She loved her church, First Christian Church of Villa Grove, where she was a member more than 50 years. She particularly enjoyed gospel music. She enjoyed retirement with George Corbin; they went RV camping and wintering in Florida for many years.
