MT. VERNON —
Mary Lou Slayton, 65, passed away 10:58 a.m. Jan. 6, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Mary was born on Dec. 24, 1947, in Monticello, the daughter of William Clarence and Virginia Florence (Hayes) Slayton.
Mary had worked for Brown Shoe Factory, Executive Inn and in home health care. She was a member of the First Church of Nazarene. Mary liked working puzzles, knitting and was an avid animal lover who loved her cat Pooh Bear. She was an excellent mother who always had a smile on her face and loved everyone.
She is survived by son, Brian Slayton of Vincennes, Ind.; daughter, Ginger Slayton of Vincennes, Ind.; son, Tony Abel and his wife of Keensburg; grandchildren, Emily Abel, Logan Abel and Joseph Slayton; and brother, Edward Slayton of Vincennes, Ind.
Funeral services for Mary will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with the Rev. Allan Wright officiating. Friends may visit with Mary’s family from 6 to 8 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at www.goodwinfamilyfh.com.
