Billy Dale Pfolsgrof, 88, of Woodlawn, died 10:34 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Green Tree Memory Care in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1924, in Litchfield, the son of Francis Dale and Faye Bertha (Striplan) Pfolsgrof. He married Ruby Jane Peterson on June 15, 1971, in Woodlawn; she survives in Woodlawn.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two stepsons, Gary Peterson and wife Peggy of Chilicothe and Oram Peterson and wife Meca of Woodlawn; three stepgrandchildren, Pete Peterson and wife Sheila of Mt. Vernon, Amy Peterson of Chilicothe and Shavonna Sanders and husband Jim of Woodlawn; four stepgreat-grandchildren, Erika Kehrer and husband Chad of Woodlawn, Aaron Peterson of Mt. Vernon, Bryson Sanders of Woodlawn and Breanna Sanders of Woodlawn; a stepgreat-great-grandchild, Jacie Kehrer of Woodlawn; a sister, JoAnn Miller and husband Hugh Frank Miller of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Billy Dale was a salesman for the oil field industry, he owned and operated Woodlawn Grocery until retiring, was a member of the Masonic Lodge 31 AF & AM, Jefferson County Shrine Club, the Scottish Rite and the York Rite.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Tracy Thomas officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home with members of the Jefferson County Shrine Club conducting a walk-through service at 7 p.m. Masonic rites will follow at 7:15 p.m.
For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Shriners Hospital for Children and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
