Robert G. “Bob” Harrelson, 72, of McLeansboro, died 12:55 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Ind.
He was born Sept. 20, 1940, in Hamilton County, the son of Enos Allen and Lou Cindy (Clark) Harrelson. He married Bertha E. Harrison Aug. 27, 1970; she survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Kevin (wife Marinda) Gentry of Whitesburg, Tenn., Robert G. (wife Thelma) Harrelson of Rogers, Ky., Frank A. (wife Marsha) Harrelson of Nicholasville, Ky., Joel R. (wife Vicki) Harrelson of Carmi, and Jason A. (wife Debbie) Harrelson of McLeansboro; his daughters, Trena (husband the Rev. Allen) Spangler of McLeansboro and Cara (husband Tracey) Webb of McLeansboro; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth (wife Tori) Harrelson of McLeansboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; half brothers, Nolan James Harrelson and Arthur Harrelson; half sisters, Beulah Faye Johnson and Alice Fern Page; brothers Enos Junior Harrelson and Ernest Lee Harrelson; and a sister, Ethal Lucille Parker.
He was a retired cross country truck driver, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Christian Chapel Church in McLeansboro.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m Thursday at Christian Chapel Church near McLeansbobo with the Revs. Allen Spangler and Troy Daily officiating. Elder Kenneth Wayne Harrelson will conduct the celebration of life service. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in Macedonia.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Thursday until the time of services at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Christian Chapel Church and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Gholson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
