Aaron L. Harris, Sr., 74 years and one day, of Springfield and formerly of Woodlawn and Lincoln, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Mr. Harris was born Feb. 1, 1939, in Lincoln, the son of the late James H. and Beulah F. Harris (Rose) of Lincoln. He was married on April 25, 1959, to Patricia Meiners Harris.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Springfield; his daughter, Dawn Kuznik (husband James) of Middletown; his son, Aaron "Bud" Harris, Jr. (companion Debbie Woolever) of Woodlawn; four grandchildren, Michelle Kuznik (companion Jake Mahler) of Lincoln, Jessica Rector (husband Joey) of Woodlawn, Brooke Charron (husband Kyle) of Elkhart and Tyler Harris of Woodlawn; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, James (wife Ardella) of Gravois Mills, Mo.; three sisters, Laura Slayton of Lincoln, Faye Jones of Oostburg, Wis. and Kay Petro of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Harold "Bub" Harris; and his sister, Eva Hill.
Aaron was formerly employed as head pressman at the Lincoln Courier in Lincoln and later at General Tire & Rubber (now Continental Tire) manufacturing plant in Mt. Vernon in maintenance.
In accordance with Mr. Harris' wishes, he was cremated and there will be no services.
Memorials contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
