David Lee Stich, 63, of Mt. Vernon, died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at his home in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1948, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Ralph and Carmie (Sallee) Stich.
David worked as a laborer for Mt. Vernon Neon, Inc. before retiring and was of the Baptist faith. He was a caring and loving son and brother. He rarely complained but focused on the simpler things. He had a passion for reading a good book, watching action movies, and, yes, eating a good meal. He could be seen driving his little red sports car around town, going to his favorite restaurant or to visit family and friends on a Sunday afternoon. He will be sadly missed by his family.
He is survived by brother, Dean Montague and wife Carolyn of Calvert City, Ky.; sister, Jeanne Stich and husband John Scrivner of Mt. Vernon; nieces and nephews, Brad Montague, Jennifer Montague, Heather Jones and husband Steve, Lee Summers and wife Becky and Daniel Stich; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Ethan Jones, Mackenzie Jones, Cade Summers, Adalyn Summers and Brant Summers.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at East Salem Cemetery in Jefferson County with the Rev. Melvin “Buck” Larson officiating. Interment will at East Salem Cemetery in Jefferson County.
In honor of David’s wishes, he will be cremated and no visitation will be held.
For those who wish, memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
