MT. VERNON — John Dennis Ramsey, 58, of Benton, passed away at 11:37 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Ramsey was born Nov. 30, 1953, the son of Norman L. and Mamie E. (Bishop) Ramsey.

Mr. Ramsey was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Ramsey is survived by his fiance, Mary Mathis of Benton; a brother, Danny N. Ramsey and wife Delores of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Ruth Garofolo of Mt. Vernon; nieces and nephews, Arista B. Ramsey, Jeffrey L. Garofolo and wife Tiffany, Matthew F. Garofolo, Donna DeKalb and husband Faron, Donnie F. Beard; a great-nephew, Stormy Greenlaw; a great-niece, Addison B. Garofolo; a brother-in-law, Jeff G. Garofolo; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mr. Ramsey was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; sister, Mildred Beard; and a niece, Donella Beard,

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dahlgren with the Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating.
