MT. VERNON —
Allen Hatchett, 75, of Las Vegas and formerly of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, in Las Vegas.
He was born Saturday, Dec. 19, 1936, in Mt. Vernon, to John W. and Stella (Arnold) Hatchett.
He was married to Carolyn Nichols.
Allen retired after 35 years working as a welder in the manufacturing department of Caterpillar Heavy Equipment Company in Joliet and he served in the National Guard.
He is survived by a son, Richard Hatchett; a daughter, Debra Hatchett and husband Robert Sliwinski of Skokie; a grandson, Kasey Sliwinski; three sisters, Joyce Hall, Shirley Jane Strickland and Betty Hatchett Keller; a brother, Douglas Hatchett; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
His parents and two brothers, John Donald Hatchett and Jerry Hatchett preceded him in death.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Friday at Old Union Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. There will be no visitation.
Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
