Ray Schilling, of Nashville, departed this life at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at 2:08 a.m. He had attained the age of 81 years and six days.
Schilling was born on Oct. 30, 1931, at Altenburg, Mo., the son of Rudolph and Clara (Loebs) Schilling. He was united in marriage to Virginia Fornkahl on Sept. 10, 1960, and she preceded him in death. He later was united in marriage to Kay Woytus on April 24, 1982, and she preceded him in death. Ray then was united in marriage to Cecilia Stanowski on Nov. 6, 2010, and she survives his passing.
Ray was a member of the United States Army. He then worked as a service representative for Allis Chalmers for 25 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Nashville, the Agri Business and the Good Samaritan Auxiliary. Ray enjoyed gardening, boating and camping.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife Cecilia Schilling of Nashville; three children, Stephanie Ritter and her husband David of Buffalo Grove, Tamara Mueller and her husband Paul of Collinsville and Christopher Schilling of Waukegan; 10 stepchildren, Sharon Tworek of Carol Stream, Theresa Dietzman and her husband John of Plover, Wis., Robert Woytus and his wife Marcie of Ballwin, Mo., Carol Gilbert of Plover, Wisc., Steven Woytus and his wife Cari of Mesa, Ariz., Richard Woytus and his wife Alison of Elk Grove Village, John Rolf and special friend Kim of DuBois; David Rolf and his wife Pat of Nashville, Carol Gann and her husband Joel of Sarasota, Fla., and Kevin Stanowski and his wife Laurie of Posen; three sisters, Myrtle Kuehnert, Lillian Fiehler both of Altenburg, Mo., Lorene Haertling and her husband Leonard of Nashville; two brothers, Melvin Schilling and his wife Mary of Frohna, Mo., and Harold Schilling and his wife Deb of Jackson, Mo.; 37 grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relations and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, second wife and a brother, Leonard Schilling.
Funeral services will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon, at 11 a.m.Saturday, Nov. 10 with pastors Josepha Lecke and Russell Johnson officiating and with interment in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Mt. Vernon.
Friends may call at the Campaga Funeral Home in Nashville, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
Should friends desire, memorials can be made to the St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary or to a Lutheran Church of the donor’s choice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
