Deana Akers

MT. VERNON — Deana M. (Angle) Akers, age 54, of rural Lawrenceville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville.  

She was born Dec. 6, 1957, in Fairfield, the daughter of Richard D. and Shirley (Allen) Angle.  She married Jimmie D. Akers on Dec. 26, 1975; he survives.

Deana was a homemaker.  She was a member of Island Free Methodist Church where she served as chairperson for the food pantry, as well as the church treasurer.  She enjoyed cooking, crafts and spending time with her grandchildren.  She was very dedicated to her church and the Lord.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmie of rural Lawrenceville; her parents, Richard and Shirley Angle of rural Sumner; two sons, Justin (Ashley) Akers of rural Lawrenceville and Brad (Erin) Akers of New Douglas; one daughter, Heather (Daniel) Doty of Columbus, Ind.; one brother, Robert Angle and friend Kim Patterson of Lawrenceville; one sister, Sheila (John) Johnston of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren, Jayley Akers, Layton Croslow, Jase Akers, Samuel Croslow, Owen Akers, Jack Akers and Lilyan Doty; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville.

Friends may call Friday evening from 5 to 8  p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Petty Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Island Free Methodist Church Food Pantry with envelopes available through the funeral home.
