MT. VERNON —
Lyndell E. Williamson, 59, of O’Fallon, born Monday, May 4, 1953, in Mt. Vernon, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at his residence in O’Fallon, surrounded by the loving presence of his family and friends.
Mr. Williamson retired from the United States Air Force and retired from the Department of Defense Civil Service as Director of Information Technology. He was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church. Lyndell was a loving father, brother and friend.
He is survived by his children, Matthew Williamson of O’Fallon, Sarah Williamson of O’Fallon; brothers, Will (Marsha) Williamson, Jr. of Swansea and Wayne (Jesse) Williamson of Tyler, Texas; sister, Wanda Williamson of Janesville, Wis.; sister-in-law, Charlotte Williamson of Tucson, Ariz.; and ex-wife and dear friend, Dr. Gayle Williamson of Farmington, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde V. Williamson, Sr. and Yvonne M. (Hayes) Jones and brothers, Neil Williamson and Gail Williamson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Matthews United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Slone and the Rev. Bill Kierce officiating. Private burial will be at a later date at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Matthews United Methodist Church, 1200 Moreland Drive, Belleville.
Per the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the schlorship fund in Mr. Williamson’s memory for Angels’ Cove Pregnancy, Adoption and Foster Care Center- Baptist Children’s Home and Family Services, 4243 Lincolnshire Drive, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864, American Cancer Society and/or the American Heart Association.
