David G. Blood, 81, of Ina, passed away at 6:25 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
He was born in Spring Garden on Feb. 20, 1931, the son of Daniel Webster and Gracie Caroline (Sullivan) Blood. He married Frances Jane Johnston and she preceded him in death on April 1, 1995.
He was a veteran of the Navy. He retired from Ford Motor Company. He was a member of the Elk Prairie Christian Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Marsha G. Hospodar and husband Roy of Bourbonnais; son, David Gordon Blood and wife Melanie of Macedonia; eight grandchildren, David John Blood and wife Jenny of San Diego, Kristen Hawkinson and husband Matt of Dallas, Ryan Daniels and wife Amy of St. Louis, Gabriel Daniels and wife Jamie of Crown Point, Ind., Ariana Daniels of Chicago, Louis Gasperec and wife Julie of Chicago, Stephan Gasperec and wife Lisa of Chicago and Michael Gasperec of Chicago; and great-grandchildren, David Denztman, Jacob Daniels, Rafe Daniels, Max Daniels, Jimmy Wlekowski, Jack Gasperec and Louie Gasperec
Mr. Blood was preceded in death by his parents; wife; granddaughter, Heather Daniels; and brothers and sisters, Carl Blood, Ethel Nihells, Earl Blood, Gene Blood, Neva Bevis Brosam, Ruth Ella Conner and Velma Blood.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina with Pastors Bill Degenhart, David Shores and Daren Durey officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirk Cemetery in Ina.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
