M. Louise Knolhoff, 80, of Centralia, passed away at 9:17 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at her residence.
She was born on April 24, 1932, in Boaz, Ky., the daughter of Rooney and Beulah (Cress) Barker. She married Lester “Wes” Knolhoff and he preceded her in death.
Louise is survived by two sons, Stephen Knolhoff and wife Judy of Mt. Vernon and Phillip Knolhoff and wife Mary of Centralia; a brother, Dr. Tom Barker and wife Anita of Highland; a sister, Runell Steele of Sandoval; four grandchildren, Angie Wielt and husband Jeff of Mt. Vernon, Jill Bradford and husband Justin of Mt. Vernon, Taylor Knolhoff of Edwardsville and Jessica Knolhoff of Centralia; four great-grandchildren, Parker Wielt of Mt. Vernon, Ethan Wielt of Mt. Vernon, Maci Knolhoff of Sandoval and Carsun Bradford of Mt. Vernon; and also several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Arthur “Coke” Steele.
Louise was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Friendship Guild at Trinity Lutheran Church, past President of BPW, past Woman of the Year at BPW, a member of the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Centralia Airport Board, a member of the Kaskaskia Workshop Board, a member of the Steering Committee for the Centralia Ballonfest and also volunteered at the Relay For Life. She was a longtime area resident, who before retirement had served as Vice President at Old National and Mercantile Bank. Earlier she had been office manager at WCNT Radio Station and a receptionist and assistant for Dr. A.L Spiller.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia with Pastor Mark Girarden officiating. Interment will follow.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia and from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or to Relay For Life and will be accepted at the funeral home.
