Barbara Alleyne (Curry) Graham, 71, of Mt. Vernon, died 3:50 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.
She was born Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1941, in Riverside, Calif., daughter of B.A. and Pearl (Lyons) Chaffin. She married Charles Leon Curry, Sr. on Feb. 17, 1963, in Bakersfield, Calif. and he preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 1985. She married Roy Graham on Aug. 8, 1986, in Mt. Vernon and he preceded her in death on June 20, 1998.
Barbara was a registered nurse at the Miners Hospital in Christopher.
She is survived by two sons, Chuck Curry, Jr. and wife Tish of Buckner and Carl Curry and wife Twana of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Yvetta Eskew and husband Jim of Mt. Vernon and Charlotte Mason and husband Kenny of Benton; grandchildren, Elijah Charles Curry and Richard Leon Curry of Buckner, Chris Eskew and Whitney Eskew of Mt. Vernon, Courtney Clark and wife Charlanda of Olympia, Wash., Marcus Clark of Buckner, Kendra Mason and Wayd Mason of Benton, Aidan Curry, Asiah Curry and Arika Curry of Mt. Vernon and Kamron Hay of Newburgh, Ind.; five great-grandchildren, Brian Aaron Curry of Tennessee, David Smith of Tennessee, Destiny Hope Curry of Mt. Vernon and Miera Clark and Markus Clark of Olympia, Wash.; brother, Charles Chaffin of Ontario, Canada; three sisters, Virginia Schwabedessin of Victorville, Calif., Etta LePac Boulder of California and Dawn Chaffin of California; extended family, Paula Montgomery and family of Benton and Sheilia Bennett Lampley and family of Benton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Charles Curry; grandson, Brian Allen Curry; and stepfather, James Lyons.
In honor of her wishes, she will be cremated and a celebration of life service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
The family will greet friends from 5 until the time of service at 7 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Furry Friends Animal Shelter or the American Lung Association and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
