MT. VERNON —
Annabel (Davenport) McClure, 81, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Saturday, Dec. 5, 1931, in Belle Rive, to Albert and Lillie (Cremeens) Davenport.
She married John R. McClure on Oct. 11, 1975, in Mt. Vernon. He preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 2011.
Annabel worked as a secretary for Mt. Vernon City Hall and then as a secretary for Orion Oil Company. She was later employed as a secretary for the publisher of the Mt. Vernon Register-News for many years. She was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church.
Annabel is survived by two brothers, Howard Davenport and wife Eva of DeKalb and Jimmy R. Davenport of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Mary Ellen Petersen of Dix; a stepson, Mike McClure of Mt. Vernon; three step-grandchildren, Quinn McClure and wife Amanda of Woodlawn, Mallory Moddelmog and husband Chris of Fort Collins, Colo., and Kyle McClure of Murray, Ky.; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her parents; husband; one daughter-in-law, Cheryl McClure; two brothers, Harold Davenport and Charles Davenport; and one sister, Doris Boyer, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with the Rev. Gary Davenport officiating. Interment will follow at Belle Rive Flint Cemetery in Belle Rive.
Visitation will be from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 at the funeral home.
