Wanda Lee Huff, 78, of Bluford, went to be with God in Christ at 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at her home in Bluford.
She was born Monday, July 9, 1934, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Fred A. and Helen (Henry) Wood. She married Frankie D. Huff on Aug. 23, 1952, in Piggott, Ark.
Wanda was a custodian at Bluford Grade School for eight years. She fought a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis as a patient at Hospice of the Good Samaritan for 11 months. She was a born again Christian and a loving wife, mother and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Frankie D. Huff of Bluford; two sons, Rick V. Huff and wife Myrna of Bluford and Randy R. Huff and wife Deborah of McLeansboro; two daughters, Rhonda Bevis and husband Mark of Mt. Vernon and Raelyn Capps and husband John of Mt. Vernon; nine grandchildren, Matt Huff and wife Amy of St. Louis, Jeremy Huff of Michigan; Brandon Huff and wife Lyndsey of Edwardsville, Courtney Cannes and husband Michael of St. Louis, Alyson Deletetsky and husband Seth of Saco, Maine, Jennifer Wheeler and husband Nathan of Mt. Vernon, Jessica Carter and husband Chad of Mt. Vernon, Ashley Reu and husband Ryan of Fairview Heights and Whitney Garretson and husband Bill of Tennessee; two stepgrandsons, Jacob Capps of Mt. Vernon and Joseph Capps and wife Brittnie of Mt. Vernon; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Pastor Mark Shell officiating. Interment will be at East Hickory Hill Cemetery in Jefferson County.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
