William M. “Bill” Lammers, 58, of Mt. Vernon, died at 5:58 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Monday, Sept. 13, 1954, in Newton, Iowa, son of Marvin E. and Marilyn (Walker) Lammers. He married Deborah Grothoff on Jan. 19, 1996, in Mt. Vernon.
Bill graduated from high school in Newton, Iowa, in 1975. He worked at Progress Industries and at Woodward Hospital, was a full-time National Guardsman and was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Lammers of Newton, Iowa; wife, Debbie Lammers of Mt. Vernon; stepdaughter, Melissa Knappier of Mt. Vernon; stepgrandchildren, Dylan and Devin Bruns of Mt. Vernon and Guy Twiggs of Smithboro; brother, Mark Lammers of Gainesville, Ga.; sisters, Anne Wessinger of Newton, Iowa and Jeanne Payne of Newton, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
In honor of his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no visitation or funeral service.
