MT. VERNON — —
William “Bill” Dean Elzy, 65, of Mt. Vernon, died at 5:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Saturday, June 14, 1947, in Springfield, the son of Elmer Dean and Arletta Marie (West) Elzy.
Bill worked as an engineering draftsman for Dowzer Electric for many years and was later employed as a cabinet specialist for Lowe’s. For several years he was part of the Tourism Board. He was an avid Cardinals and Saluki fan and loved to fish and be outdoors.
He is survived by mother, Arletta Marie Elzy of Mt. Vernon; sister, Marsha Marie Elzy of Mt. Vernon; nephew, Kenneth Wayne Elzy and wife Jaime of Mt. Vernon; great-niece, Madi Cubley of Mt. Vernon; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father.
In honor of Bill’s wishes, he will be cremated following the visitation and no funeral services will be held.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Mt. Vernon Parks and Recreation and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
