MT. VERNON — —
Richard Schuyler Huston, 81, of Mt. Vernon, died 2:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Mt. Vernon Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Saturday, Jan. 17, 1931, in Jefferson County, the son of Emery Edison and Opal Lucille (Hayes) Huston. He married Betty Joe McCoy on May 23, 1952, in Jefferson County.
Richard served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an oil field worker and also worked in construction as a union laborer. He later worked for Southern Illinois Asphalt. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Joe Huston of Mt. Vernon; brothers, Frank Huston and wife Anita of Mt. Vernon and Jerry Huston and wife Carolyn of Palm Harbor, Fla.; sisters, Barbara Poole and husband Stanley of Mt. Vernon and Nell Petty and husband Lindell of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Renney Dale Huston; sisters, Flora Ellen Trotter and Margaret Benson; and brother, Everett Huston.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at East Salem Cemetery in Jefferson County with the Rev. Richard McCormick officiating. Interment will be at East Salem Cemetery in Jefferson County. Full military honors will be conducted by the Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141 at the cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
