MT. VERNON — Gary Cecil Moore, 61, of Mt. Vernon passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at his home in Mt. Vernon.

Gary was born Wednesday, Sept. 20, 1950, in Lafe, Ark., the son of Francis “Beaver” and Jessie Irene (Abanathy) Moore.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Francis “Beaver” and Donna Moore of Belle Rive; two daughters, Shannon Pugh and husband Kevin of Missouri, Brittani Strodtman and husband Doug of Missouri; five grandchildren, Wesley, Christina, Chloe, Natalie and Owen; two brothers, Dale Moore and wife Brenda of Mt. Vernon, Michael Moore and wife Katrena of Mt. Vernon; three sisters, Marilyn Harris and husband Larry of Mt. Vernon, Debbie Sanders of Mt. Vernon and Stephanie Melton and husband Mike of Bonnie; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

Gary was preceded in death by his mother; an infant daughter, Patty and an infant brother, Scott.

He was a truck driver for Flanagan Trucking in St. Louis.

Celebration of life service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Gary Davenport officiating. Mr. Moore will be cremated prior to services.

The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until service time at 2:30 p.m. at Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or to American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
