Raymond Charlie Dulany, 89, of Mt. Vernon, died 5:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, in Crestview, Fla.
He was born Sunday, Sept. 9, 1923, in Wayne County, son of Dolpha and Cora Bell (Dickey) Dulany. He married Dorothy Rosalie Payne on Nov. 9, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo.; she preceded him in death on Aug. 26, 2012.
Raymond served our country in the United States Army in World War II from 1943 to 1946. He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad as a welder and foreman. He was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church and a long time past member of Kennes Baptist Church. Raymond was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He is survived by daughters, Sandra Sue Kasban and husband Louis of Ashley, Phyllis Stegeman of League City, Texas, Rhonda Piper and husband Donald of Mt. Vernon, Anne Marie Dulany of Chillicothe, Mo. and Brenda Navas and husband Joseph of Crestview, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers, Floyd, Vernie and Lee Dulany; and four sisters, Norma Lloyd, Ruthie Dulany, Elsie Mae Puckett and Esther Winesburgh.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Archie Sanders Memorial Chapel at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City. Interment will be at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City. Members of the Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141 will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Archie Sanders Memorials Chapel at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.
For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Thomason Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
