MT. VERNON —
Shirley P. Stanley, 87, of Mt. Vernon, died 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1925, in Mt. Vernon, a daughter of Rolla Henry and Arthella (Boger) Buehling. She married Ansel Q. Stanley Aug. 11, 1943, in Hattiesburg, Miss.; he preceded her in death June 11, 2011.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Davis and husband Hal of Davenport, Iowa; a grandson, Andrew Davis of Davenport, Iowa; two nieces, Glenda Moore and husband Jim of Apex, N.C., and Donna Terry of Tucson, Ariz.; and a nephew, Ronald Lynn Stanley and wife Brenda of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Shirley was a clerk and secretary for Illinois Power Company until retiring in 1983. She was a member of Bonnie Church of God in Bonnie.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
