MT. VERNON —
Laura E. Duncan, 74, of Deland, passed away in her sleep at 4:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at her granddaughter’s home in Woodlawn.
She was the daughter and one of three siblings of Hazel (Emery) Neilson and Dewy Neilson and was a purchasing agent for Mercy Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred E. Duncan Sr., on Jan. 19, 2009; by her brother, Fred Neilson; and both her parents.
She is survived by a sister, Julia Koranda and a son and daughter-in-law, Alfred E. Duncan Jr. and Loleta; a granddaughter, Sierra Smith; and other extended family members.
In honor of her wishes, she was cremated and no visitation will be held.
A graveside memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Deland Cemetery in Deland with Pastor Dalene Kuebler officiating.
For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Duncan family and will be accepted at the cemetery, the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
